- What age groups do you cater to?
- Sketch welcomes children between 2 to 6 years of age through our mixed-age kindergarten and daycare programs.
- What does “mixed-age learning” mean?
- At Sketch, children of different ages learn together in a shared environment rather than being separated strictly by age. Younger children naturally learn through observation and imitation, while older children develop empathy, confidence, leadership, and social responsibility by helping and guiding younger peers. We believe this creates a more organic and emotionally rich learning environment that mirrors real life more closely than age-segregated classrooms.
- What educational philosophy does Sketch follow?
- Sketch is inspired by child-led, play-based and developmentally aligned approaches to early childhood education, including principles drawn from Waldorf education, developmental psychology, neuroscience, and experiential learning. Our philosophy is deeply research-backed and rooted in the understanding that young children learn best through movement, play, imagination, relationships, sensory experiences, rhythm, repetition, and meaningful real-world activity.
- How is Sketch different from a regular preschool?
- Sketch is intentionally unhurried. Unlike many conventional preschools that introduce academics, worksheets, and structured performance very early, we focus on strong developmental foundations through play, movement, rhythm, relationships, storytelling, sensory experiences, and emotional safety. We believe young children learn best through real-life experiences and meaningful connection — not pressure-driven early learning. Our mixed-age environment, calm rhythms, nature-rooted approach, and deeply attentive adults create a space where childhood is protected, not rushed.
- Do children learn reading and writing at Sketch?
- Yes — but in developmentally appropriate ways.
Rather than introducing formal academics too early, we focus on building the foundational capacities that make later learning joyful and sustainable: language development, listening, attention, fine motor skills, imagination, emotional security, curiosity, and confidence.

- Absolutely. Children leaving Sketch transition confidently into mainstream schools because they carry strong developmental foundations — emotional resilience, communication skills, focus, social confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning. We believe true school readiness is not about how early a child starts worksheets, but how securely they are rooted within themselves.
- Do you use screens in the classroom?
- No. We believe the early years are best nourished through real-world experiences — movement, conversation, storytelling, play, sensory exploration, nature, creativity, and human connection. Children have their whole lives ahead of them to engage with technology. Early childhood, however, is a brief and foundational season that deserves presence and embodied experiences.
- What kind of toys and materials do you use?
- We prefer open-ended, natural, and sensory-rich materials that encourage imagination and creativity rather than passive entertainment. Children engage with wooden toys, art materials, loose parts, books, fabrics, natural objects, practical life tools, and materials that invite exploration and meaningful play.
- How do you handle discipline and conflict?
- We approach children with empathy, respect, and emotional awareness. Rather than punishment or shaming, we focus on co-regulation, guidance, modeling respectful behaviour, and helping children gradually build emotional understanding and social skills. We see behaviour as communication and believe children thrive when they feel safe, seen, and connected.
- What are your timings?
- Drop-in is flexible between 9:00 am and 10:30 am. Our half-day kindergarten program runs through the morning, while full-day and extended daycare options are available until 6:00 pm to support working families. We aim to create rhythms that feel gentle, flexible, and supportive for both children and parents.
- Do you provide meals?
- Yes, we provide freshly prepared, wholesome vegetarian snacks and meals designed to support healthy growing bodies and calm daily rhythms.
- How do I visit or apply?
- Write to us or book a visit through the Admissions page. We host small parent visits through the week so families can experience the space, understand our philosophy, and get a feel for the rhythms of Sketch before making a decision. We believe choosing an early childhood space is deeply personal, and we value building trust and alignment with families from the very beginning.
